What is a Potcake?
Turks and Caicos Potcakes are not your average mutt – they are a special breed with a unique story. The name “Potcake” originates from the traditional practice of feeding these stray island dogs the leftover scraps from cooking pots. This resourceful tradition gave birth to their distinctive moniker which is used here in the Turks and Caicos and Bahamas.
These charming pups come from a mix of different breeds such as Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, and English Fox Terrier, resulting in one-of-a-kind characteristics that make them stand out. Due to their diverse ancestry, they are not officially recognised as a specific breed by kennel clubs. Potcakes are known for their friendly demeanor and loyal nature, quickly capturing the hearts of all who encounter them. Their intelligence and playful spirit add an extra layer of charm to this captivating dog breed.

What is Potcake Place?
