Your Guide to the Best Beaches in Turks and Caicos
Discover Provo’s Top Beaches from Grace Bay to Sapodilla Bay and More!
What is the Best Beach in Turks and Caicos? Well, choosing the best beach comes down to a few factors like weather, wind direction and activities. Here we break it down for you.
All beaches in Providenciales, aka Provo, are not created equal – each spot is special in it’s own right. But that’s not to say that one spot may be better than another on a given day due to a number of factors. Below we list our ten favourite beach spots in Provo and what weather, wind and wave factors might lean us towards a particular beach!
Sapodilla Bay Beach
Just a short walk from La Mer Villas, Sapodilla Bay Beach offers shallow waters and fine white sand beaches that make for the perfect family beach day. With a stunning view of the open ocean to the southwest of the island, Sapodilla Bay is wonderful for anyone wanting to stretch out and enjoy the sun, or wade through the shallow, turquoise waters. This spot is popular for families with young children due to the shallow and calm waters making it safe and easy to keep an eye on little ones.
Tip: It’s calm in Sapodilla Bay most days, a reason why we love it, but especially when it’s windy on Grace Bay head this way! Enjoy a jet ski ride from one of the beach vendors or get active with a paddle through the calm waters.
Taylor Bay Beach
Also within close proximity to our villas, you will discover quiet and serene Taylor Bay Beach just a short distance from Sapodilla Bay. Here, the shallow water offers the best opportunity for children to play and adults to float for hours on end, cocktail in hand. While it can be a little more active at Sapodilla Bay, Taylor Bay is the ‘calmer sibling’ with a little less action. Beautiful any time of day, but for a real treat, stick around for sunset!

Grace Bay Beach
The focal point of Providenciales tourism, Grace Bay Beach boasts three miles of white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, teeming coral reefs, and high-end resorts and restaurants alongside laid-back beach bars. With several beach accesses to choose from, there’s a spot on the beach for every mood. Convenient beach accesses are located at Flamingo Cafe, also known locally as Ricky’s, between Club Med and Ocean Club, west of Grace Bay Club, at Royal West Indies, to the east of Seven Stars, adjacent to Villa Renaissance, east of The Mansions and east of The Sands Resort. Each access offers a spot to park and a path to the best beach in the world!
Tip: Calm when the wind is out of the E or SE. Rent beach chairs and umbrellas for a more comfortable beach day! A number of boat tour operators will also collect you off the beach for a snorkel tour or some parasailing.
Long Bay Beach
On the south side of Providenciales, on the Caicos Banks you’ll find Long Bay Beach. Here, the persistent tradewinds offer a windswept experience that makes for excellent kiteboarding. Catch a glimpse of shipwreck La Famille Express from the beach or hop a ride out to Capt Oak’s Tiki Bar. The shallow waters on the Caicos Banks make for a kid friendly beach. No matter how you prefer to enjoy the beach, Long Bay offers the perfect combination of solace and adventure. You can also explore the beach via horseback with Provo Ponies.
Tip: When the wind is blowing out the N, Long Bay is a calm alternative to a breezy Grace Bay. On hot days, a breeze is welcome and the bonus of watching kiters fly by.
Malcolm Beach
Located on the far west end of Providenciales is Malcolm Beach. Secluded with a stunning iron shore, this beach also boasts incredible snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities. If you prefer lounging, you can choose between the fine white sands or a shaded gazebo. Love beachcombing? You’re sure to come away with some amazing finds as you scour the shore for seashells and other treasures. Just remember the joy is in the finds, and these should not be removed from the beaches.
Tip: Reef balls have been deployed here to assist in coral regrowth, boasting juvenile corals and marine life to discover. Avoid this spot with wind coming out the N or NW.
Leeward Beach/Pelican Beach
Leeward Beach, also known as Pelican Beach and often called Sunset Beach by visitors, is the ideal destination for those who want a taste of Grace Bay Beach but with fewer people. Enjoy powdery white sand and serene seas, along with a rock jetty that offers some impressive snorkeling. This beach also lives up to its name, offering the perfect place to sit back and watch the famous sunsets for which Turks and Caicos are known.
Tip: To the east of Grace Bay Beach, this spot is also calm when the wind is out of the E or SE. Rent beach chairs and umbrellas for a more comfortable beach day or hop on a boat tour for some snorkeling or parasailing.
Southwest Bluff and Bonefish Point Beach
Bonefish Point Beach is one of the best kept secrets of Providenciales. Located out on a southwestern point beyond Chalk Sound, you’ll find this small, secluded and scenic beach. If you love getting off the beaten path, this is the place for you. Explore the Pirate’s Cove and check out Split Rock—impressive to admire from the ocean, and if you’re feeling especially adventurous, perfect for cliff jumping.
Tip: ditch the bumpy road out and join Panoply Sport Fishing & Luxury Charters and visit this area by boat. A number of great stops are on the way for this off-the-beaten-path itinerary.
Five Cays Beach
In search of shallow waters for the little ones and a beach bar for you? Then you’ll love Five Cays Beach. Here locals and tourists alike congregate on the shore, enjoying the food, drinks and music of Bugaloo’s Conch Crawl or Omar’s Beach Hut . Both offer the ultimate in island ambience, so you can kick back and relax while the kids splash and play safely at the shallow water’s edge.
Tip: When the wind is out of the E or SE it’s nice and cool this side of the island. The shallow waters here are generally calm, especially when winds are out the N or NE. Hop on a jet ski tour right from Omar’s Beach Hut!
Blue Hills Beach
With its tall swaying palm trees and pastel-coloured buildings, Blue Hills Beach offers a charming taste of the old Caribbean. Be sure to stop by da Conch Shack for delicious island flavours and rum punch that you can enjoy with bare feet in the sand, or head to Froggie’s for real local fare and cold beverages – a fave local spot. Here you can also rent an ATV to explore the area. Quieter than other beaches on the island, Blue Hills Beach is the perfect solution for those in search of peace and quiet.
Tip: When it’s blowing out the S or SE you can count on nice calm seas in Blue Hills. The old island charm is so present in Blue Hills area and slanting trees are reminders of hurricanes past, creating great photo-ops along the beach road.
